Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Specialist to join our team in Oxfordshire. This role is crucial in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop both academically and socially in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs, promoting emotional well-being and positive behavior.
  • Develop and implement tailored interventions to address students' social and emotional challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
  • Support the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress, behavior, and emotional development, reporting regularly to teachers and senior staff.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, offering emotional guidance and mentoring.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support for each student.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and personal growth of students, encouraging their engagement with school activities and fostering a positive learning attitude.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational setting.
  • A deep understanding of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties and the associated behaviors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience in developing and implementing behavior management plans and interventions.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in child development, social work, or special education (e.g., Level 3 in Childcare, Education, or equivalent).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
