Senior Bioinformatician, Python, Bioinformatics, COR7196

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Bioinformatician to join an extremely well-funded R&D institute at a time of huge investment and growth.  The Senior Bioinformatician will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, evaluation and deployment of ground-breaking bioinformatic solutions within a real-world context

The Role

Working in a "scale-up" environment, the Senior Bioinformatician will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data-driven strategies, developing code and implementing and evaluating computational/bioinformatic methods and tools to support research and development in infectious disease genomics, including AMR determination.  With an understanding of various sequencing devices and data types, the Senior Bioinformatician will create analysis pipelines and appraise and validate various tools' performance.

What Experience do I need?

  • An MSc or PhD in a related field such as bioinformatics, computational biology, microbiology, mathematics or genomics, coupled with solid commercial experience in bioinformatics/computational biology
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, etc.
  • Experience with large-scale genetic data analysis using bioinformatics tools and pipelines
  • Expertise in data structures for next generation sequencing data
  • An understanding of/experience in infectious disease genomics and infectious disease genomic analysis, epidemiology and surveillance
