About the Role
This FTSE 100 firm based in the Southwest of England is at the start of an AI transformation journey.
The Head of AI (and two senior colleagues) are looking for a talented, ambitious, AI Engineer to help them spearhead an AI-led programme of change. Proven developers who are earlier in their career and mid-senior people will both be considered.
What is crucial is that you have practical experience of developing generative and agentic AI solutions that have delivered genuine business impact, you are enthusiastic, and have great communication skills, as you will be engaging with senior business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
- You will work closely with the Head of AI, helping him shape and implement the group-wide AI strategy.
- Collaborate directly with business teams to understand their challenges and translate them into requirements for AI solutions following Agile methodologies (use case capture, assessment & prioritisation, solution & validation).
- Design and develop cutting-edge AI solutions using ML, generative AI, and agentic AI to optimise processes, such as preventative maintenance and automation of administrative tasks, and develop LLM-based chatbots to handle natural language queries for both customers and employees.
- Act as an AI evangelist within the company, championing AI adoption by showcasing the business benefits of your deliverables and training non-technical colleagues to use your solutions.
- Stay updated with emerging AI trends and technologies, raise awareness in the group to these innovations and their significance.
Desirable Responsibilities
- The ability to develop and implement CI/CD pipelines utilising Git and GitHub.
- Work with colleagues to develop and implement AI governance framework for ethical, secure, and compliant deployments at scale. Establish appropriate documentation, including design specifications, test plans, AI Ethics/ Policy/ Regulations evaluations, and user guides/ FAQs to enable our governance processes and solution compliance.
Required Skills / Experience:
- Proven development skills for designing, developing and implanting agentic and generative AI solutions that have delivered genuine business benefits.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as Python, and R.
- Proficiency in at least one AI framework or platform, such as LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face. We’d love it if you were familiar with Azure based AI technologies like Semantic Kernel and Azure AI Agents, but training will be provided if not.
- Fantastic communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clearly understandable non-technical language.
- Preferably you’ll have a good understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., AI, computer science, data science, or a related discipline) is desirable but not mandatory.
Other Requirements:
- Fully remote working is possible, however, there will be a preference towards candidates who can come to the office for at least two days a week.
