Senior Infrastructure Engineer - LINUX / VMWARE

£60,000pa

My client are looking for a Senior Infrastructure / Operations Engineer to join their team and support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of a complex, multi-platform environment.

You will bring robust experience in server and system administration across Linux, Windows Server, and Windows 11, along with in-depth knowledge of networking, virtualisation, and high availability (HA) configurations.

This role is hands-on with various tools and applications essential for managing the technology stack, including VMware ESXi, Intune, Apache Guacamole, NGINX, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Administration: Manage, configure, and optimise Linux and Windows Server environments, including Windows 11 client devices.
  • Virtualisation: Oversee VMware ESXi virtualised environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and resource allocation.
  • HA and Load Balancing: Implement and manage high availability and load-balancing solutions using technologies like Keepalived and HAProxy.
  • Networking: Configure and troubleshoot networking components, including DNS, firewalls, and routing, to support internal and external connectivity.
  • Web Services: Set up and maintain web server environments using Apache, NGINX, and Squid proxies.
  • Backup and Recovery: Ensure data protection through effective backup strategies with Veeam, maintaining recovery readiness.
  • Endpoint Management: Utilise Microsoft Intune for Windows endpoint management, maintaining consistent security and compliance across devices.
  • Server Hardware Maintenance: Manage HP Servers to maintain physical infrastructure reliability.
  • Remote Access Solutions: Administer Apache Guacamole for secure remote access to systems.
  • Documentation and Optimisation: Develop comprehensive documentation for all managed systems, continuously seeking optimisation opportunities.
