I have partnered with an IT consultancy in Oxford who are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a 3rd Line Engineer you will play a critical role in delivering advanced IT support, managing complex infrastructure projects, and providing technical leadership. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:Advanced Technical Support:

  • Provide 3rd-line support for escalated issues from the 1st and 2nd-line teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Serve as an escalation point for critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.

Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, implement, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Proactively monitor and optimize performance, availability, and security of client systems.
  • Ensure high availability and business continuity for client environments.
  • Project Delivery:
  • Lead and participate in the planning and execution of IT infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and deployments.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define technical requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor for their IT needs.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on ongoing projects and issue resolution.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory/Group Policy, and Exchange.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Proficiency in networking concepts (firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs, routing).
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, Azure AD).
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar 3rd Line Support role, preferably within a legal/law environment (beneficial but not essential).
  • Demonstrated success in managing and delivering IT infrastructure projects.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), VMware (VCP), or Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) are highly desirable.
