Job Purpose:
Oversee the development of attractive timetables, duties, and rotas that evolve to meet customer and stakeholder needs. Ensure the Planning team provides high-quality data to the Operations, Commercial, and Finance teams to support the smooth running of operations, data analysis, and commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Head of Commercial to develop proposals for the evolution of bus networks, ensuring services meet the needs of customers, local authorities, and stakeholders.
- Compile timetables that align with customer needs and strategic business objectives.
- Develop duties and rotas that balance efficiency and employee satisfaction in a challenging labor market.
- Conduct ongoing service performance reviews using data analytics tools such as PowerBI and CitySwift.
- Support the evaluation and configuration of new commercial systems alongside the Commercial Ticketing & Systems Manager.
- Assist the Head of Commercial in scenario modeling for new business development opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for schedule efficiency improvements and work with Operations teams to implement them.
- Manage and support Commercial Officer/Coordinator roles, ensuring high-quality outputs and ongoing professional development.
- Assist in responding to requests for information regarding BSOG audits, BSIP schemes, and hours/miles reporting.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Publicity Coordinator and Commercial Data & Ticketing Coordinator to ensure compliance with BODS and high-quality customer information.
- Prepare and submit Traffic Commissioner informational letters as required.
- Represent the company and promote bus use positively.
- Operate in line with company vision and values.
- Carry out additional duties as required by the Head of Commercial.
- Experience leading network planning and schedule changes, including consultation with Operations and Unions.
- Proficiency in scheduling software such as Omnibus, Hastus, or Trapeze.
- Minimum of five GCSEs (including Maths and English at Grade C or above) or equivalent.
- Valid car driving license.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Structured, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Degree-level qualification.
- Knowledge of the bus industry.
- PSV license and Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
