An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Criminal Lawyer to join a Legal 500 firm with offices in Oxford. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload and have previous experience in private client and regulatory crime. You will be expected to represent clients at all stages of criminal proceedings, from pre-charge to post-conviction, and provide strategic and tactical guidance to clients in complex and sensitive matters.

Duties will include:

  • Advising and representing clients in criminal matters including serious criminal offenses regulatory breaches, and white-collar crime cases.
  • Represent clients in all stages of criminal proceedings, including pre-trial, trial, and post-conviction hearings.
  • Drafting legal documents, including correspondence, witness statements and pleadings.
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients, ensuring clear communication of complex legal concepts and potential outcomes.
  • Work closely with other members of the criminal team to ensure efficient case management and delivery of services.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of criminal law, legal practices, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in business development activities, including networking, client referrals, and contributing to the marketing of the firm’s criminal law services.

Desired skills:

  • A qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 5 years PQE.
  • Experience in running your own caseload.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and advocacy skills.
  • Be proactive with an interest in business development.
