Oversee the legal affairs of the organization, providing expert guidance on all legal matters, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. This strategic leadership role combines high level advisory responsibilities with hands-on oversight of the legal department's operations, aligning legal strategy with the organization's business goals.Strategic Legal Leadership:
  • Serve as the chief legal advisor to the executive leadership team and the board of directors.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive legal strategy that aligns with the organization’s objectives.
  • Anticipate potential legal risks and proactively create mitigation strategies.
  • Keep the organization informed of legal trends and developments that may affect its operations.
Governance:
  • Ensure the company complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Oversee corporate governance, including managing shareholder meetings, board documentation, and governance policies.
Risk Management:
  • Identify and manage legal risks across the organization.
  • Advise on liability, potential litigation, and strategic decision-making to minimize legal exposure.
Ownership:
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including commercial agreements, partnerships and acquisitions.
  • Lead and manage the legal department, including hiring, mentoring, and developing staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, HR, and operations, to provide legal guidance on various projects and initiatives & act as a liaison between the legal departmentand external legal counsel when needed.
  • Represent the organization in negotiations, disputes, and public engagements involving legal issues.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal practice, with a mix of in-house and law firm roles preferred.
  • Experience in corporate, commercial, compliance, and litigation matters.
  • Familiarity with global software would be advantageous.
  • Previous leadership experience managing a legal team.
  • A strong foundation in legal principles and knowledge across various areas of law, including corporate law, contract law, employment law, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Capacity to think strategically and provide legal advice that supports the long-term goals and objectives of the organisation.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
