We are seeking an Experienced Planning Lawyer to join a dynamic local authority legal team on an interim basis.

  • End date: 15th August 2025

  • Rate: £50 per hour (via umbrella or LTD company)

  • Location: Remote/Hybrid working available (Council HQ: Oxfordshire)

  • Hours: Full-time preferred (37 hours/week), flexible working considered

  • Team: Legal Services, reporting to Senior Solicitor

The RoleYou will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice and services in planning law matters, including:

  • Drafting legal agreements and policy advice

  • Supporting planning-related litigation and inquiries

  • Advising on highways, environment, and development matters

  • Training officers and attending committee meetings

  • Managing your own caseload with minimal supervision

Requirements

  • Current Practising Certificate (Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer, or Barrister - England & Wales)

  • At least 1 year PQE, ideally more

  • Strong knowledge of Planning Law (and related fields such as Environment, Highways, Local Government Law)

  • Local authority experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and provide concise, accurate legal advice

Desirable

  • Familiarity with local government governance processes

  • Confident advocacy and committee support experience
