We are seeking an Experienced Planning Lawyer to join a dynamic local authority legal team on an interim basis.

Location: Remote/Hybrid working available (Council HQ: Oxfordshire)

Hours: Full-time preferred (37 hours/week), flexible working considered

Team: Legal Services, reporting to Senior Solicitor
The RoleYou will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice and services in planning law matters, including:

Drafting legal agreements and policy advice

Supporting planning-related litigation and inquiries
-
Advising on highways, environment, and development matters

Training officers and attending committee meetings
-
Managing your own caseload with minimal supervision
Requirements

Current Practising Certificate (Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer, or Barrister - England & Wales)

At least 1 year PQE, ideally more

Strong knowledge of Planning Law (and related fields such as Environment, Highways, Local Government Law)

Local authority experience strongly preferred

Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and provide concise, accurate legal advice
Desirable

Familiarity with local government governance processes

Confident advocacy and committee support experience
