NPI Production Engineer (Contract)

6 month, rolling contract

Due to a heavy investment in new product development, we are seeking an experienced NPI Production Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer to support a number of New Product Projects within our complex electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.

The role will include Production Engineering activities to ensure that NPI project timescales are fully supported.  This will involve NPI Production Engineering support for projects as well as technical expertise in the resolution of any problems on existing products to facilitate production output.

Key Responsibilities for NPI Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer will include:

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplined project team providing New Product Development support and contribute as to the preparation of technical proposals to customers.

 

  • Managing the introduction of new products ensuring new product specification considers design for manufacture (DFM) at all stages.
  • Producing and maintain robust and cost effective manufacturing processes.
  • Root Cause Analysis - Solve both technical product and process problems utilising structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma etc;
  • Working across the business (engineering and other departments) to produce cost estimates for new product designs.
  • Supporting and Engineering changes / ECN’s
  • Writing work instructions and identifying tooling requirements for product manufacture and tooling and test equipment design.
  • Using industry knowledge and expertise to identify and new technology that can be implemented to improve quality and output.

To succeed in this varied and interesting project based NPI Production Engineering role you will ideally  need to be HNC/D + or degree qualified or have a number of years proven experience in a low / medium volume electro-mechanical or assembly manufacturing environment and have:

  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • A working knowledge of lean concepts and tools to reduce process / product variation
  • First class communication skills essential,
  • The ability to manipulate data in MS Excel / and or databases useful.
