Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the team at Highfield Adolescent Unit within Warneford Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to work with young people in a supportive and dynamic CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) environment. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care, support, and treatment to adolescents with mental health conditions, managing a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges. This position requires flexibility to work across a 24/7 shift pattern, including night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe, person-centred nursing care to children and young people in a CAMHS inpatient setting.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, contribute to care planning, and ensure effective implementation of care plans for patients.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, offering support to both young people and their families.
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner, demonstrating emotional robustness and resilience.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure a commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults, acting in the best interests of the patients at all times.
  • Work within established policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
Essential Criteria:
  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a valid NMC registration.
  • Proven CAMHS experience is essential for this role.
  • Ability to work a flexible 24-hour shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage with young people and their families.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively and to remain calm under pressure.
  • A reliable and trustworthy individual with a good sickness record.
  • Genuine interest and commitment to working with young people and their families, promoting their mental health and well-being.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Additional experience in working within an adolescent mental health setting or in inpatient CAMHS units.
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health frameworks and policies, including safeguarding legislation.
