Description

The School Nurse will:

*Manage pupils with chronic illness (e.g., diabetes) and implement plans with regard to their long-term care*Work closely with Catering Staff regarding dietary intolerances or allergies*Provide first aid and emergency care/treatment as necessary, including for injuries on the school campus*Maintain and stock first aid kits

*Maintain medical records accurately, confidentially and safely.*Keep nursing records to the standard required*Record and oversee the dispensing of drugs following drug protocols.*Attend and contribute to (where appropriate) staff training days and relevant staff meetings (including safeguarding and Health and Safety meetings)*Contribute to record keeping of all accidents and liaise closely with the school's Health and Safety Officer about the correct recording of accidents and injuries in accordance with Government legislation and school policy.

Profile

The School Nurse will be/have:

  • Experience in a nursing role (not necessarily a school)
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in dispensing drugs
  • Organised and experience in administration
  • Immediately available
