Role OverviewAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced, RICS Registered Valuer to join a successful and well established valuation team based in Oxford. The valuation team sits within the wider development team, including land agency and development consultancy, with valuers based in our Oxford and Reading offices.
The team is experienced in providing Red Book valuations for a variety of purposes including loan security, for clients such as lenders, landowners, developers, private individuals, solicitors and institutions such as universities and Local Authorities.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record and interest in business development including seeking new opportunities, managing existing established client relationships, growing the business and building a professional network.
Key Responsibilities
As a predominantly valuation role, the successful candidate will be involved in generating new business leads and servicing existing work. Business generation is at the forefront of this role and therefore we are looking for a genuine self-starter.
- Valuation of development land (residential/commercial/mixed-use), residential properties including prime/super prime and commercial assets.
- Development appraisals in both a valuation and development consultancy capacity.
- Independent preparation of detailed reports.
- Supported and encouraged to cultivate own sustainable pipeline of work and income stream.
- Ability to delegate work where appropriate and to provide professional support including APC guidance to more junior team members.
- Act as a key link between the valuation team, development/land team the wider office, and other parts of the Savills business.
- Represent the team at internal and external meetings and events.
Key Skills
- MRICS/FRICS qualified and RICS Registered Valuer status essential - we are open to number of years PQE.
- Minimum three years post-qualification experience.
- Proficient in key software to include Argus Developer and Argus Enterprise, in addition to standard MS applications including Word and Excel.
- Good local geographical and market knowledge, and familiarity with the planning system.
- Good research skills and due diligence interrogation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with accurate and efficient report writing.
- Strong team player with the ability to quickly build internal and external relationships and credibility.
- Proven track record of winning business from a variety of sources, in particular lenders and developers.
- High level of attention to detail including the ability to review the work of others in the team.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Confident and personable.
- Highly motivated and organised with the ability to manage own workload and that of others.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively seek out new business, training or cross selling opportunities.
Team Overview
The valuation team across Oxford and Reading comprises a Director, three Associate Directors, an Associate, two Graduate Surveyors and support staff, alongside a wider development team of 23.
