Aspiring Educational Psychologist - Mental Health Supporrt

A friendly school in Oxford are looking for a Mental Health Assistant to join them as soon as possible.

This is a warm and friendly school that places a high priority on ensuring that their students are well taken care of and feel safe and supported!

The students in this setting have high mental health needs and need support with regulating, processing and understanding their emotions.

The role as a Mental Health Assistant and what it entails:

  • Your main role and responsibility will be to support the students in the classroom with staying on track with their school work
  • They need a mental health assistant who will facilitate the therapy with the students and track their progress.
  • As a therapy assistant you will be involved in helping them access their education in a way that is easy for them, using their tailored intervention plan.
  • You will also help facilitate an engaging learning environment where they will have the opportunity to fall in love with learning.

Day to day as a Mental Health Assistant, tasks may include:

  • Helping keep track of students' progress
  • Helping keep the class an engaging, clean and tidy environment
  • Helping the class teacher to manage behaviour
  • Helping set up for lessons
  • Facilitate and help with specific interventions

The perfect Therapy Assistant will be:

You will ideally have some experience working with children in some capacity. You must be patient and proactive. Enthusiasm is a big one, as these children need to be encouraged and supported to reach their goals. You must have a DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.
