We are looking for a Criminology Graduate to work as a Mental Health Support Assistant at a small mental health provision just outside of Oxford. All the students in the school have mental health needs, including anxiety, attachment needs, post-traumatic stress, depression and anger. The school have a deep focus on addressing the social, emotional and therapeutic needs of the students, and ensuring every individual feels happy and safe in school, so if you are patient, friendly and proactive please apply!
As a Mental Health Support Assistant, your day to day will involve working with a range of students, on a one-to-one basis, as well as in wider groups. You will help prepare learning materials for the students, check on their welfare, and help increase their independent living skills. You will be working alongside Teachers and Specialist Staff to support the students socially and emotionally, and through building strong, robust relationships, you will increase the engagement, attainment and life changes of the children, aiming to ensure they do not enter the criminal justice system.
By working in a specialist mental health school, this role will give you the essential experience needed to train as an Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Behaviour Therapist or Speech and Language Therapist in the near future. Not only will you gain a first-hand insight into mental health and neurodiversity, you will also learn to identify the risks and needs of each child, and ensure they meet the milestones set for them. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent Graduate or someone with previous experience working with children.
This role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 3:30pm each day. The school are ideally looking for a Criminology Graduate who can start ASAP so please apply now!
