Marks Sattin are working in partnership with a fantastic life sciences company based in Oxford to recruit multiple Buyer positions. The company is going through significant growth and this is a great opportunity to be part of a newly formed procurement function delivering overall value to the supply chain.

This is a fast paced and changing environment, the ability to adapt and work collaboratively is key.

The Buyer Role

The Buyer roles will be well suited to individuals with a proven track record in procurement from a highly regulated industry such as Pharma, Med Devices, Life Sciences or food. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to deliver real cost savings from early phase R&D and will be looked upon as the voice for procurement.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Procurement of raw materials, components and consumables with the view of obtaining the best overall value including quality and service levels
  • Support the R&D and engineering teams with spot procurement of components and materials
  • Work with R&D and engineering teams to make recommendations on procurement matters
  • Source and onboard suppliers that meet relevant quality levels
  • Manage purchase orders from placement through to delivery
  • Mitigate or escalate any risk to supply
  • Recommend and implement process improvements
  • Negotiate price, service levels and lead times with suppliers

About your experience

Candidates will possess;

  • Demonstrable track record in direct procurement
  • Knowledge of the end to end procurement process
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a changing environment
  • Background in a regulated industry
  • Previous experience in partnering with R&D teams
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • CIPS Qualification desirable
  • SAP experience desirable
