Butler Ross are supporting a long-term client in the automotive sector, who are looking to recruit a Technical Buyer to support their team on an interim basis. This is a hybrid-working position with the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days a week and offering a day rate of £300-350/ day Umbrella Rate. Ideally the client would be looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial relationship with the suppliers
- Negotiating contracts (when and where required), improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Identify cost reduction, VA/VE opportunities and lead the commercial element
- Ensuring a continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
- Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with the specified cost, quality and delivery targets
- Developing ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
- Assessing and evaluating suppliers and undertaking performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and managing performance improvement activities
- Researching and building working relationships with new suppliers and subcontractors
- Supporting product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans
- Reviewing and implementing processes
Ideally you will have:
- Experience working in an automotive or technical manufacturing environment
- Experience of stakeholder management
- Experience in supplier/customer relationship management
- Understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment and experience in leading cost reduction activities
- Experience sourcing injection moulding parts/components (or similar comparable experience)
- An ability to understand/interpret engineering drawings
