We are seeking a Trainee Animal Technician for our client located in Oxford. This full-time, permanent position which offers a starting salary of 22,308 and is available for an immediate start.

As a Trainee Animal Technician, you are responsible for the health and welfare of the animals in the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record keeping and assisting with regulated procedures as and when require
  • Ensure animal welfare is up to date and any concerns reported to the NACWO
  • To follow the clients Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Basic husbandry tasks of the animals including feeding and watering of the animals, health checks, cage cleaning and washing and taking care of animal nutrition
  • Cleaning of equipment and facilities which will include the use of power washes
  • Preparing equipment for the next use

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working and caring for animals
  • Husbandry experience with rodents (preferred)
  • Previous experience with handling mice and rats would be beneficial
  • At least 6 months experience working in a research facility would be beneficial
  • Animal care management certificate or similar (preferred)
