SEND Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Oxford

At Engage Education, we’ve specialised in recruiting higher-level teaching assistants (HLTA's) for over a decade, so we know a bit about finding the ideal school for you. We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic HLTA to work at a fantastic SEND school in Oxford to start ASAP!

The right candidate will need to provide educational and personal support to children aged 11-19 with a diagnosis of Autism, usually high functioning Autism or Asperger’s syndrome.

This particular role is a full-time position working as a HLTA/Unqualified Teacher, so we are looking for someone who has an interest in Horticulture, outdoor learning, and Enterprise. So anyone with a background or interest in those subjects would be highly encouraged to apply.

The candidate would ideally have experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or a similar role, have knowledge of special educational needs, in particular children with autism and are able to deliver small group sessions in a range of PSHE topics.

About the role:

Our HLTA duties can include:

  • Working with small groups of pupils

  • Covering pre-planned lessons when the class teacher is unavailable

  • Providing intervention support

  • 1:1 support for SEND and lower ability pupils

  • Assisting with general classroom duties including display boards and preparing worksheets

The ideal applicant will have:

  • At least 6 months experience of working with children or in a school

  • Level 4 HLTA Qualification or, Undergraduate degree in Education

  • A real passion for education and improving the attainment of pupils

  • Bags of creativity for stimulating and engaging pupils

  • Be available Monday-Friday, 8:45am - 16:15pm
