Aspiring Therapist - Mental Health Support

An amazing opportunity has become available in a highly regarded specialist mental health school in Oxford. They are excellent at supporting students who are struggling with social, emotional and mental health needs. They are in search of a Mental Health Support worker to join them for a long term role starting asap.

The Students:

  • Have all been identified as struggling with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • Need support in learning how to cope and self regulate and soothe
  • Need extra support in maintaining their academic success while also working through their interventions
  • Come from all kinds of walks of life, with some students having been exposed to high stress, anxiety and adverse childhood experiences.

The Role and Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you will provided specialised and tailored support to students who struggle with severe social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Your role will involve engaging with them and ensuring that they are receiving a good blend of their education and interventions.
  • Support and encourage emotional awareness
  • Support students in developing social skills and conflict resolution strategies
  • Implement individualised therapeutic strategies

To be considered for the role you will need to have:

  • Patience, empathy and genuine passion for supporting children
  • Experience supporting children and young people with educational needs and social, emotional and mental health needs will be beneficial but not essential
  • A good understanding of safeguarding
