- Hourly Rate: £18.56 PAYE

- Job Type: Part-time, Temporary (16 hours per week, flexible on Thursday and Friday)
We are seeking an Assessment Officer for an immediate start in a temporary ongoing role within the Housing Needs Team at a local authority. This position is ideal for an experienced housing professional or someone with similar experience working with vulnerable individuals and a knowledge of housing processes. The role involves rapidly assessing and prioritising housing applications to support customers in need and prevent homelessness.
Day-to-day of the role:- Rapidly process and assess a large volume of General Register and Transfer housing applications.
- Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, ensuring accurate prioritisation of work to assist customers in housing need.
- Attend mandatory in-person training within the first few weeks and participate in regular team and department meetings at the Town Hall.
- For the remainder of the working week, the option to work from home is available.
- Engage with customers, sometimes in complex and challenging situations, to investigate and verify information provided in their housing applications.
- Implement changes quickly to adapt to ever-changing legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Experience working with vulnerable people or in a housing-related role.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle complex situations.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of housing legislation and procedures is advantageous.
- Experience with QL or similar housing systems is a bonus but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS with Children's and Adults Barred list is required.
