A SEN inclusive mainstream school is recruiting for a ASD Learning Assistant Support, as they have 15 suspected ASD children in Year 2 amongst all 3 forms. They need 5 ASD Learning Assistant Supports, with the plan to recruit later on once they are settled. Some of the Year 2 students are on a part-time timetable.

5 of the Year 5 students are formally ASD diganosed, requiring 1:1 support in the classroom and take interventions in the afternoons.

Experienced SEN/ASD Learning Assistant Support (s) are desired, and graduates with a keen Psychology interest are welcome to apply.

The ASD Learning Assistant Support role:

  • Assist classroom activities - Work in partnership with teachers to plan and perform dynamic lessons to pupils, implementing inclusive and creative strategies. 1 to 1 support may be required.
  • Excellent support team - opportunities for progression, essential for aspiring Early Careers.
  • Supporting and nurturing the environment for the Osney, Oxford based students to absorb a solid foundation of their education. Previous understanding of the national Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 curriculum is not essential, ability to adapt to new content is key.
  • Awareness of child safe-guarding and ability to highlight concerns to senior teaching staff.
  • Promote holistic student growth, contribute to creating a safe cohesive classroom.

Key skills/requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS - currently holding a valid on the update service or be willing to undergo the process.
  • Pro-active demeanour, energetic, enthusiastic and caring approach to supporting the Osney, Oxford based students.
  • Support on a 1-2-1 basis with a pupil with Autism or another with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
  • A strong background in Maths and English is ideal for this role and the Primary school are ideally looking for someone with previous experience with SEN.

Suitable for recent school leavers, University graduates, Pre-PGCE qualified students and experienced Learning Assistant Supports.
