As a Port Manager, you will be responsible for deployment of the Ports and Transport Operations teams, in both China Clay and other Ports Commercial operations, working closely with other functions to ensure a coordinated approach is maintained

The job role:

 

The Port Manager will represent Imerys in local groups such as Fowey user Group, South West Regional Port Authority, Freight Forums to promote Sea, Road and Rail links to support our industry and ensure the efficient operation of the UK Hub assets, focusing on the safety and environmental compliance by meeting the required quality standards 

Responsibilities include; 

  • Managing the loading of 200kt of Kaolin and to grow the Aggregates and other commercial opportunities
  • Ensuring those using Fowey on ad-hoc basis (berthing, jetty space, storage etc) have RAMS in place and are charged for the duration
  • Site responsibility for Safety and Safety systems reporting
  • Maintaining the BSI 9001 Quality Standard Maintenance
  • Maintaining ISO 14001 Environmental Standard Maintenance 
  • Ensuring compliance and resource support for Port Security 
  • Ensuring all employees abide by the Imerys Rail Siding Safe Working Rules 
  • Leading proactive discussions and built relationships with our primary contractors and hauliers, pricing to be negotiated with purchasing lead
  • Driving the quality management system to ensure that the company meets its objective to be a customer centric operation delivering products and a service of the highest standard
  • Being responsible for cost performance of the Port of Fowey and
  • Ensuring, with the engineering manager, that planned maintenance is carried out in consideration of port priorities,
  • Produce operational reports and statistics to manage and drive continuous improvement.

You will:

 

Have proven experience in manufacturing, commercial and business management, ideally of Port Operations management and have the following skills/ experience: 

  • MS Office Suite/Google Suite and SAP skills
  • Be experienced in people management, as you will work with the Engineering Manager, supervisors, chargehands and operatives 
  • Have IOSH Managing Safely 
  • Be Safety & Quality focused with a good working knowledge of ESH requirements 
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours with a very high level of commitment
