We are working with an established organisation in the Folkestone area who are looking to employ a Legal Counsel on a permanent basis.

Main Duties:

  • To draft, negotiate and approve a wide range of upstream and downstream commercial contracts, including the supply of goods/services, rail-related construction, IT/IP contracts and marketing/advertising agreements.
  • To liaise with colleagues across the business to identify legal considerations arising from day-to-day operational and commercial activities.
  • To work closely with other business functions, ensuring key stakeholders are appropriately involved and informed of progress/developments.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Legal UK and the Legal Director on objectives.
  • Contribute to bi-national work between legal team members.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks for the Group's operations and commercial activities.
  • Provide training to legal team members on key UK issues and risks, and arranging training.
  • Offer legal advice and recommendations on regulatory compliance requirements, particularly on implementing Data Protection and Competition law policies.

Requirements:

  • UK qualified solicitor/barrister with 3/4+ years PQE.
  • Ideally a mix of private practice and in-house legal experience dealing with corporate, commercial and regulatory issues.
  • Fluency in French is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiar with sector specific law, processes, policies and practices.
  • Possess the skills to work autonomously to minimise legal risks and obtain maximum commercial advantages from commercial/corporate activities.
  • Stay up to date with legal developments in technical, commercial and financial operations.
  • Recommend legal actions and assist with compliance-related work.
