Job Purpose:As a Grade 8 Social Worker, you will assist individuals in resolving significant difficulties in their lives, enhancing their independence and coping skills. You will work within the framework of current legislation and Council policy to assess, commission, and review services tailored to a specific client group. Your role will also involve protecting vulnerable individuals and contributing to the development of quality service systems across the city.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake duties of a Level 2 Social Worker along with additional responsibilities.
  • Provide casework supervision to team members below level 3.
  • Work independently in situations such as attending court and child protection conferences.
  • Assess needs, risks, and strengths, considering legal requirements, including child protection.
  • Manage complex and high-risk cases or arrange substantial care packages.
  • Collaborate on joint work with less experienced staff in intricate cases.
  • Promote a recovery model of care while formulating care and treatment plans.
  • Participate in supervision, appraisal, and team meetings.
  • Manage and prioritize your caseload while using professional judgment.

Person Specification: Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent, with registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience assessing adults requiring support services.
  • Knowledge of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of varying complexity.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience with substance misuse issues.
  • Understanding of Trauma-Enhanced Practice.
  • Experience supervising staff.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in assessment and risk analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multi-professional teams.

Special Circumstances:

  • A valid driving license and access to a car is essential.
