Job Title: Senior Support Worker Homelessness Services
Location: Penicuik, Midlothian
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Salary: £13.75p/h (rising to £13.89p/h after successful probation)
About the Role:
21 Health and Social Care is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join one of our clients in Midlothian, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in overseeing support plans, leading staff, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. You will work closely with individuals facing homelessness, supporting them with housing, health, and well-being while promoting independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage personalised support plans, ensuring they are reviewed and updated regularly to meet individual needs.
- Assist individuals in accessing education, employment, housing, and recreational opportunities to improve their quality of life.
- Provide guidance and supervision to support staff, ensuring best practices and a person-centred approach.
- Manage and assess risks, ensuring safety for service users, staff, and the wider community.
- Assist with medication management and help service users attend health appointments.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of all support provided, maintaining professional and respectful documentation.
- Take the role of shift leader when required, overseeing the team in the absence of the Service Manager or Team Leader.
- Provide regular supervision and development opportunities for support staff, ensuring a motivated and effective team.
About You:
- Experience: Previous experience in a social care setting, particularly within homelessness services or a related field.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise and support staff while leading by example.
- Qualifications: SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
- Driving Licence: Desirable but not essential.
