The CompanyNigel Wright Tech is pleased to be working alongside a professional services organisation in their search for a Senior Data Engineer. The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead the company's data strategy. You will help to design and manage their data infrastructure, ensuring data is ready, available, reliable and ready for analysis. The company are embarking on some really exciting technology projects across the next 12 months and data will play a huge part in the overall journey. Key responsibilities include: 
  • Data Pipeline Architecture - Design, develop and manage complex, scalable data pipelines 
  • ETL/ELT strategy - Lead the automation of Data extraction, transformation and loading processes using Fivetran, Python and dbt to enable seamless transition into Snowflake 
  • Data Modelling and Architecture - Architect and maintain robust data models in Snowflake, optimised for analytical performance. You will proactively ensure models are aligned with business needs, balancing both immediate and long term commercial outcomes 
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Partner with data analysts and business teams to gather requirements and deliver customised data solutions. 
The RequirementsWith a newly built warehouse and reporting self service in use, there are some great foundations for the right candidate to build upon. The role will involve some strategic and leadership input but remaining hands on. There is a chance the team will grow and this person would be leading a small team over time. Key Requirements include: 
  • Proven track record as a Senior Data Engineer with hands on expertise of cloud data platforms (either Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services (S3, Redshift, BigQuery) 
  • Advanced ETL/ELT, SQL experience 
  • Skilled in designing efficient data models and implementing security measures to safeguard data quality and integrity 
  • Strong communicator with the ability to lead projects and mentor team members 
  • Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Tableau would be a plus
