Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer

Location:North Yorkshire or West Yorkshire or Cumbria

A Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer is required to join a Building Design Consultancy in North Yorkshire or West Yorkshire or Cumbria. The company are one of the largest multi-discipline building design consultancies in the North of England. They offer a broad range of services in Building Surveying, Civil & Structural, Highways and Drainage Engineering, and more.

Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer Role:

  • Work as a member of the Building Services Team to deliver on a verity of projects from industrial buildings to new build homes, schools and refurbishments
  • Produce Mechanical Building Services design calculations using a range of techniques ranging includiing industry standard software such as Hevacomp and IES
  • Produce feasibility reports, condition surveys, design specifications and drawings suitable for all RIBA work stages
  • Undertake detailed surveys on electrical building services to advise on their suitability for continued use
  • Contract administration and project management
  • Oversee and supervise the installation of building services systems, undertake commissioning management and specify maintenance and operating procedures
  • Carry out project design and complete H&S risk assessments to meet current CDM regulation requirements

Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC in Building Services/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Ideally working towards MCIBSE
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical services
  • Experience with mechanical surveys and condition survey reports
  • Able to produce plans, sections and detailed drawings, specifications, schedules of works and other documents to high standards
  • Experienced and confident in the preparation of decarbonisation/sustainability reports
  • Experienced in supervising and monitoring mechanical installation work on site
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk AutoCAD and NBS software, Revit
  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
  • A full UK driving license
