About the Role:We are currently looking for dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Workers to join our team in Cumbria, supporting children and young people (under 18) with learning disabilities (LD), autism, and mental health needs. In this rewarding role, you will provide day-to-day support, assist in respite care for families, and engage in meaningful activities that promote the well-being and development of young people.As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to work across a range of different caseloads, ensuring that the needs of each individual are met with care, empathy, and professional support.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, and mental health conditions.
- Engage in activities designed to improve the social, emotional, and developmental well-being of the young people.
- Offer respite care to families, providing them with much-needed support and relief.
- Work with families to ensure their children's needs are being met in a compassionate, safe environment.
- Provide support on a flexible basis, with shifts ranging from 1-3 service users per day and some short calls (some calls could be 3-4 hours).
- Document and report on the progress and needs of the individuals in your care, ensuring all safeguarding guidelines are followed.
- Evening availability is required to ensure that we can provide support when families need it most.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health conditions is essential.
- Must have a full driving license and be able to travel across the Cumbria area.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and the wider support network.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing different caseloads efficiently.
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people and their families.
- Evening availability to support families and service users during those times.
