We are currently recruiting for experienced PIP2 Accredited Investigator to work on a full-time contract in Carlisle, Cumbria.

The role will be situated within a Police Force, so applicants must be able to obtain national security vetting.

The role is initially a 6 month fixed-term contract, but could be extended.

Role overview:

To provide support the Force Major Investigations Team (FMIT) with investigative assistance on child-abuse cases.This will encompass a wide range of investigative activities including, but not exclusive to, victim and witness interviewing; house to house enquiries; securing and reviewing CCTV; premises searches and completion of search records; supporting suspect interviewing and intelligence interviews and assisting with file building including disclosure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify, preserve and present evidence as mandated in Law and Force Procedures, identifying and filling any evidential gaps.
  • To assist in the preparation of high-quality evidential files for submission to CPS.
  • Assist in the investigation of criminal offences and occurrences as directed; ensuring Record Management System (RMS) and other IT applications are fully updated in accordance with force procedures.
  • Support officers with their development where your skills and accreditation allow
  • Assist in the interviewing of victims and witnesses
  • To assist student and other constables on attachment with investigation, case file preparation and disclosure issues thus enhancing the performance of the area. To give regular and effective service.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • PIP2 Accredited (essential)
  • Experience working within Child-Abuse (essential)
  • Able to pass through national security vetting (essential)
  • Tier 3/ABE Interview trained (desirable)
