Role Overview:

 

To perform duties delegated by the Technical Manager safely, efficiently, and to the high standards expected by the company, delivering work on time and in compliance with operational requirements.

 

 

Key Responsibilities of the Toolmaker:

 

  • Tool Manufacturing:
  • Produce new injection mould tools based on technical drawings and 3D CAD data, ensuring exceptional workmanship and cost-efficiency.
  • Qualifications & Expertise:
  • Qualified plastic injection mould toolmaker.
  • Apprentice-trained in toolmaking.
  • Experienced in CNC operations.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM systems.
  • Mentorship: Play an active role in the development and training of apprentices within the toolroom.
  • Production Tools Expertise: Work with fully hardened steel production tools, hot runner systems, valve gates, and manifolds.
  • Tool Maintenance: Repair and modify production tools as needed and perform regular servicing and maintenance per established schedules.
  • Safety and Operations:
  • Operate all toolroom machinery safely, adhering to health and safety guidelines, including the use of protective clothing and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the toolroom, following 5S housekeeping principles.
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to tooling, processes, productivity, and efficiency, contributing to the company's Continuous Improvement Program (CIP).
  • Record-Keeping:
  • Log maintenance and repair activities in the provided systems and databases.
  • Ensure tools are correctly marked and labelled for easy identification and tracking.
  • Collaboration: Engage with the Technical Manager and team to assess and implement process enhancements.
  • This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
