Assistant Ecologist

Peterborough

We are seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Ecologist to join a company based near Peterborough! This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in ecology, biodiversity, and conservation to contribute to a range of projects that support sustainable land management and environmental stewardship.

The successful candidate will assist with ecological surveys, habitat assessments, and species identification while supporting senior ecologists in delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services. They will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting, working on a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with protected species surveys and ecological assessments
  • Conducting habitat and biodiversity surveys
  • Supporting the preparation of technical reports and mitigation strategies
  • Collaborating with clients, landowners, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental legislation
  • Helping to implement habitat management and restoration projects


Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Has a strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and ecological best practices
  • Some experience in ecological surveying and species identification is desirable
  • Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred due to the nature of fieldwork
