Assistant Project Manager

Are you a skilled and versatile Assistant Project Manager with a strong background in construction/refurbishment work? We are working with a client who prioritise personal development and they are looking to add an enthusiastic Assistant Project Manager to their Peterborough team.

The primary role of the Assistant Project Manager will be to assist in ensuring that the allocated projects are run efficiently and profitably, ensuring full compliance to health and safety legislation and contract conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Project Manager with their managing role and the day-to-day responsibilities for the running of projects along with also running own small works projects
  • Supporting and monitoring Health & Safety practices and CDM Regulations on site
  • Attendance of regular site meetings with clients and other professionals
  • Preparation of reports, programmes, progress and profitability reports
  • Pricing and agreeing instructions with the client or their agents
  • Contribute to formulating valuations and final accounts
  • Assisting with the preparation of estimates/tenders
  • Procure, negotiate terms and monitor the performance of sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Procurement of new clients
  • Produce relevant monthly reports for the Director e.g. cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts etc. ensuring information is complete and accurate
  • Provide support to the site team in order to optimise the use of contract resources
  • Maintaining deadlines in line with requirements

Person Specification

  • Construction related qualification i.e. HNC/HND or Trade related qualification
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS or SSSTS)
  • Proven and recent experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Supervisor within a construction environment
  • Competent in the use of a range of IT packages to include Microsoft Work, Excel and Project
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Keen to pursue personal development needs and maintain up to date knowledge
  • You must hold a full current UK driving licence and have had 6 months driving experience since passing your test
  • Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, MOJ CTC clearance, MOD vetting clearance and enhanced police clearance.

Hours of Work, Pay, and Benefits

  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work will be 42 hours per week (flexibility will be required):
    • Monday to Thursday - 07:45 to 17:15
    • Friday - 07:45 to 16:45
