Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Environment, Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Review and modify existing policies and procedures to align with client requirements and ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety Legislation.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures to meet various regulatory obligations.
- Track adherence to current policies and procedures, reporting any non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
- Conduct routine site visits to perform audits and facility inspections.
- Develop training materials and deliver sessions for relevant employees.
- Support site teams in drafting risk assessments and safe work procedures.
- Investigate incidents and significant near misses, analyse accident trends, and propose proactive strategies for improvement.
- Assist with onboarding new employees by addressing necessary training requirements.
- Offer guidance and support on all health and safety matters within the organization.
- Communicate with regulatory authorities when necessary to resolve compliance concerns.
- Maintain and fulfil internal and external reporting obligations.
- Conduct risk management via thorough risk assessments
- Deputise for the EHS manager during times of absence
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH is a necessity
- A full UK driving licence is a necessity given this is a travelling role
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
The Health and Safety Officer role would suit somebody who has:
- Significant Health and Safety experience in a heavy process engineering environment (Power, Renewables, Paper Mills, Pharmaceutical, FMGC, COMAH sites, etc)
- A good understanding of legislative requirements relating to health and safety
- Experience liaising with the HSE will be advantageous
- A flexible working approach as the role will involve travel between sites
