We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our school pastoral team. Your main role will involve working with pupils across the school as needed to support with dysregulation and challenging behaviours. You will also be required to cover PPA across the school in the absence of class teacher(s). This is a great opportunity to combine mentoring skills whilst working in a supportive environment.

Our partner is a specialist all-through school in Peterborough, who cater to pupils with EHCP's in place predominantly for Autism, SEMH, Mild and Complex Learning Disabilities.

The school is on a rapid improvement journey and the new leadership team are working hard to ensure students receive the best education possible, so this is a great time to be joining where you can play a vital role in school improvement.

This is a temporary to permanent contract opportunity and applicants must be able to work from 08.30 to 15.30, Monday to Friday during term-time.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children with ASD.
  • Can act as a role model, challenge and motivate, promote and reinforce self-esteem and establish productive working relationships with pupils.
  • Has high expectations of and can act in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection and behaviour management.
  • Is able to demonstrate a range of behaviour management strategies.
  • Has the ability to engage constructively with and relate to a wide range of young people from different backgrounds.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, at all levels and is very well organised.
  • Is motivated, independent and has high expectations of themselves, always striving for the best.
