Electrical System & Electrification Design & Development Engineer
Electrical Design Engineer with ideally 3-5 years exp required for a 12 months contract based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
Hybrid working available, likely to be required on site a min of 3 days pw, some working from home available.
£38 - £40ph FCSA Umbrella (this role is deemed inside IR35
£28 - £29ph paye


Will Consider people with good HV Development Experience, possibly within Automotive, Aerospace, Special Purpose / Production Machinery or Rail Vehicle industries


Duties include:


  • Work with process partner teams to gather and develop requirements for prototype machines and our in-flight hybrid development programmes.
  • Design and development of the HV (>60V) and LV (12/24V) electrical systems, for these projects, in alignment with IEC 60204-1.
  • HV (>60V) and LV (12/24V) electrical schematic development.
  • Identification and allocation of appropriate ECM I/O to support the HV (>60V) and LV (12/24V) systems requirements.
  • HV (>60V) PDU (Power Distribution Unit) concept development and design including component selection (contactors, fuses, current sensors, connectors etc).
  • Creation of HV (>60V) PDU validation schedule and activities.
  • Participation in electrical system FMEAs, documenting potential failure modes, identifying and completing design and validation actions and managing subsequent updates.
Essential: Strong technical background (good technical degree preferred in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering) with demonstrable experience in hybrid and electrification powertrain technologies, including electric motors/machines; electric vehicles; power electronics; HV (>60V) and LV (12/24V) systems; battery and battery management systems. Experience of systems integration, testing and validation of electric powertrain systems and components. Ability to understand and develop customer requirements and objectives for the design and development of hybrid and electric powertrain. Knowledge of systems FMEA and validation plan creation. Excellent communications skills
  • Possess business understanding with the ability to translate actions and to implement across the business.
  • Demonstrable experience working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders and business units.



Candidate Requirements:


Complex Machinery, Rail Vehicle, Aerospace / Aircraft, Whole System Automotive or Heavy Goods Vehicle / Similar exp
Engineering degree or HND/HNC
Capable of working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues in different geographies.
Must be on site min 3 days a week, but work from home is available.


This role is inside IR35, and the umbrella pay rate is £38 - £40ph FCSA Umbrella, paye £28 - £29 ph
