Job Title: Solar & Battery Storage Technician

Location: Field-based in the Northampton/ Peterborough or Stoke-on-Trent/ Nantwich/ Market Drayton/ Wrexham areas

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified electrician to perform operations and maintenance on utility-scale battery storage and ground-mounted solar PV plants. The role involves ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency, with a commitment to maintaining optimal plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow and uphold health and safety standards.
  • Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance, inspections, and testing on AC, DC, and HV systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues on sensors, communication equipment (e.g., RS485, Ethernet, fiber optics), and configure devices.
  • Conduct system testing, fault-finding, and prompt repairs.
  • Oversee sub-contractors and ensure quality of work.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and compile reports.
  • Communicate regularly with the office and travel between sites.
  • Occasionally cover other sites for up to one week at a time if needed.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Electrical Systems: DC, AC, HV, and SCADA systems.
  • Solar PV: Strong understanding of solar PV technology and experience with MW-scale or large commercial ground-mount installations.
  • Battery Storage: Knowledge of battery storage technology (training provided if needed).
  • Communication Networks: Experience with ethernet, fiber optics, and data monitoring systems.
  • Inverters & HV Switchgear: Knowledge of central inverters and HV switchgear operations.
  • Safety Standards: Experience with Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

Skills & Attributes
