Our client is a leading SME business operating within the Food Manufacturing Industry with sites based Internationally but UK head office ideally located within Peterborough (with hybrid working afforded)

As part of the companies continued growth, FRS have been engaged to assist with the recruitment of a Accountant / Finance Manager to join the business.

This is a newly created position with the companies focus to bring the accounting / finance department in house (currently covered by external accounting firm) coupled with adding support to the Portfolio / Fractional CFO.

This position will work closely with the CEO on a day to day basis and provide support to the CFO in the below

Management of Purchase Ledger
Management of Sales Ledger
Monthly VAT returns
Management of the Annual Audits, Corporation Tax, and the associated Financial Reporting,
Any further projects and requests.
Management of the business’s costing system
Preparation and presentation of the Management Accounts and Management Information,
Financial Planning and Analysis / 3 & 5 Year Planning
Management Accounts with commentary

o Frequency - Monthly

Cashflow Forecasting

o Frequency - Weekly, Monthly & Quarterly

On an annual basis, the role will support the preparation of the Business Plan/Budget, and the management of the Annual Statutory Accounts process and liaison with auditors and tax consultants.

This is a key role, which will run the Finance function, directly influence all parts the business and support the CEO and CFO in making strategic decisions.

It is expected that the role will grow, so that the Portfolio / Fractional CFO. can hand additional responsibilities over to the Finance Manager.

Core Responsibilities

To ensure the financial records of the business are kept up to date, are classified correctly, and are supportable by appropriate documentation. (Xero)
Ownership of financial reporting, ensuring appropriate stakeholders are engaged as and when required.
Ownership of the company’s inventory and costing system (Unleashed)
To assist the planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
To add insight to business decisions, using established methods such as analytical review, scenario analysis, performance measuring and monitoring.
To provide insightful financial information, interpretation, and guidance, which influence appropriate stakeholders, to ensure that a full understanding of the financial implications linked to their decisions is achieved.
The ability to develop, enhance and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and reports.
To provide primary point of contact for all financial matters in the business day-to-day. (CFO will support)

Additional Responsibilities

Customer and Product line profitability reporting
Production of Weekly Flash Reports (Key Business KPIs)
Other performance analysis as required.
To provide cover for other roles in the business, should it be necessary.

The ideal candidate will be a Qualified / Part Qualified / QBE Accountant with at least 2-3 years experience gained within a similar position.

Experience gained within Manufacturing and or Food / FMCG is desirable but not essential.

A competitive basic salary of £40,000 to £60,000 coupled with excellent benefits and bonuses await.

Hybrid working can be offered within this position with candidates attending the Peterborough site 2-3 days per week.
