About Our ClientA long established, UK business, our client operates in a high transactional/high-volume, fast-growing sector. The business has experienced substantial growth through acquisitions and significant organic expansion.

Job Description

  • Supervising the production and circulation of all operational reports and ensuring they are supplied accurately and in a timely manner
  • Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements to a 10-working day deadline.
  • Manage and oversee annual statutory audit.
  • Directly line manage relevant heads of department in line with company procedures.
  • Managing all finance and accounting operations in line with company procedures
  • Overseeing all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures
  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and reporting variances
  • Manage and contribute to the procedures regarding all accounting operations including Billing, Payroll, Credit control and Revenue Recognition
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Manage and comply with contractual & statutory reporting requirements and tax filings, ensuring the organisation meets the necessary compliance requirements
  • Taking care of tax preparation duties or liaising with external tax accountants for tax preparation
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Summarising budget trends, analysing deficiencies and reporting variances to executives
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance & maintaining best practice
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

The Successful Applicant

You will be a qualified Accountant with a proven track record within a similar leadership finance role, with high level accounting competence. This role will require strong financial acumen and the ability to step up into a commercially broad and hands on role. Ideally someone that understands growth of an SME and has the ability to thrive in a scale up environment with autonomy.

You will have excellent communication and influencing skills and be comfortable working with all levels from senior stakeholders to operational staff across the business as well as external relationships with institutions. You will have strong financial reporting skills and proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines and balance multiple objectives. Experience of continuous process improvement and competence in leading financial teams and overseeing the company's financial control and reporting activities.

You will demonstrate knowledge of change/best practices and experience in working with relevant financial and accounting software packages.

Above all, you will be an experienced candidate that can demonstrate you are detail orientated with a strong personal and work ethic and will be actively seeking a visible role in which to further your career to FD/CFO level. Experience of managing and developing a fast paced finance team, including ledgers, payroll and management accounting would be highly desirable.
