We are looking for an experienced and organised Cover Manager to oversee all aspects of teacher absence, ensuring high-quality cover and minimal disruption to students' learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily cover: Organise short- and long-term cover for absent teachers, ensuring lessons are adequately covered with appropriate work set. This includes liaising with Heads of Department and handling last-minute cover requests.
  • Administer the cover system: Oversee the cover system in line with the school's policies, booking supply teachers, maintaining records, and managing the cover budget efficiently.
  • Team leadership: Lead and manage a team of Cover Supervisors, providing guidance, support, and performance management, ensuring consistency and quality across the team.
  • Supervision and training: Observe cover supervisors during lessons, offering feedback and arranging training where necessary. Ensure new cover staff and supply teachers receive proper induction and monitor their classroom effectiveness.
  • Classroom cover: Step in to supervise lessons when needed, maintaining classroom order, managing student behaviour, and keeping students on task in the absence of their regular teacher.
