As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join us as a Practice Development Carer.  We are looking for a person who has a passion for educating other carers on the unit, sharing best practice, and developing our team members to be the best they can be.

As a Practice Development Carer at PJ Care Limited, you will play a vital role in nurturing a culture of excellence within our carer team. This position is designed for a senior-level carer who possesses a deep understanding of neurological care, a wealth of experience, and a commitment to sharing best practices to support the professional development of fellow caregivers. Supporting other carers to provide care to our residents in accordance with their individual care plans, under the guidance and supervision of the Nurse in Charge and management team. You will be responsible for supporting carers to provide residents with exceptional service in their daily activities, assisting residents with meals and helping resident to feel clean and comfortable. Key Responsibilities

  • Share best practice techniques with the clinical team, particularly in the context of neurological care.
  • Provide mentorship and support to other carers, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
  • Assess carers in the workplace to meet NVQ or Apprenticeship requirements.
  • Conduct sessions and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of carers, with a focus on neurological care policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with management to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance the overall quality of neurological care
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and advancements in neurological care to ensure the caregiving team remains up to date
  • Working closely with the core training trainers to enhance delivery and support a cascaded learning approach to best practice.

Qualifications and Qualities

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Level 3 in Health and Social Care (essential)
  • A nationally recognised assessors’ qualification (essential)
  • A Level 2 in English and Maths (or Equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a senior carer in a neurological care setting.
  • Knowledge of best practices in neurological care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on mentorship and team development.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and implement effective solutions.
  • Certification in caregiving or relevant field is a plus.
  • Basic IT skills (preferably Access Care Planning and Microsoft Office)

Shifts Available: 

This is a unit-based role, the contract is 12-hour shift role equating to 38.5 hours per week please. There is an expectation to work outside of the agreed hours to support the various shifts patterns within PJ Care, for example to support those who work on evenings, weekends or nights. This will be agreed with as much notice as possible.
