We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Head of Year (Student Support Officer) to join a pastoral team. This is a vital role in supporting students' personal development, wellbeing, and behaviour, ensuring they have the best possible school experience.



About the Role

As Deputy Head of Year, you will work closely with the Head of Year, students, families, and staff to provide high-quality pastoral support. You will help maintain high expectations for behaviour and attendance while fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Providing pastoral care and guidance to students across the year group
  • Supporting the Head of Year in managing behaviour, attendance, and student wellbeing
  • Working closely with families to address concerns and improve student engagement
  • Liaising with staff and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate support
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress and interventions
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive school culture


About You

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Experience working in a pastoral or student support role (school experience desirable)
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting young people
  • Ability to manage and support students with a range of needs and challenges
