About the role

The Night Shift Manager will support the site management team in the efficient and cost effective management of the warehouse operations. It will be your responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the daily Warehouse operation and enable the required level of service to be provided to the customer at all times.

Role Responsibility

  • You will ensure that the receiving, storing, picking and dispatch of Goods in the correct manner to agreed productivity levels and within budgetary constraints, whilst maintaining a safe working environment through effective team management.
  • Ability to manage & train colleagues. Your computer skills will be important too as you will be using the MS Office suite on a daily basis for reporting and formal disciplinary processes.
  • To supervise the day to day operations on site including people management, warehousing, traffic and admin operations. To deputise for the Contract / Operations Manager where required. Supervise all aspects of the contracts service centre ensuring the achievement of the contracts KPI's as set out by both company and the customer. To ensure that all site operations are completed escalating issues where necessary.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and co-ordinate the incoming goods, storage and dispatch of items in a timely and efficient manner to achieve your team objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs),
  • To ensure all warehousing activities are undertaken in line with the Operations Manual and service centre working instructions as applicable.
  • Ensure efficient planning of resource to ensure the operation is undertaken in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
  • To ensure all vehicles are loaded and unloaded safely and correctly and within specified time limits
  • To ensure warehouse operatives complete loading and unloading documentation on time and in full.
  • Ensure effective, safe, accurate and timely stock management to include space allocation, stock transfer and dealing with non-confirming product.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product and service within the Warehouse is maintained at the highest possible standards for the customer.

Essential criteria for this role

  • Previous experience in the logistics or distribution industry

What you’ll do on a typical night:

  • Deliver clear operational direction, leadership, and development to your team of MHE operatives.
  • Organise your team to perform all daily tasks efficiently and safely, ensuring safety is at the highest importance.
  • Set and monitor KPIs and performance levels, ensuring that we’re always meeting or exceeding our SLAs.
  • Carry out team briefings and general staff communication.
  • Work closely alongside the operations team to eradicate stock discrepancies and errors.
