We are seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to oversee our Client's distribution operations.Reporting to the General Manager, the Transport Manager will manage the transport department in line with company budgets while ensuring the highest levels of customer service and adherence industry regulations.

As the Transport Manager you will be responsible for planning vehicle routes effectively to maximise capacity and revenue, and ensuring the correct allocation of vehicles and trailers to drivers.You will manage the department's budget, explore cost-saving opportunities, and monitor vehicle accident damage repair costs.You will also create and manage KPI data covering sales revenue, late deliveries, agency costs, labour costs, vehicles stood, potential claims, vehicle accidents, incidents, breakdowns, MPG performance by driver and vehicle type, and revenue by pallet per mile.

Performance monitoring and leadership are key aspects of this role. You will inspire and engage your team, encouraging continuous improvement and a solution-focused approach. Additionally, you will manage staffing levels, performance, and communication within the department, ensuring holidays and sickness are managed according to business policies.

Your role as a Transport Manager will also involve managing vehicle and driver digicard tachograph downloads and infringements, ensuring tachographs are calibrated, and keeping fleet vehicles' Road Fund Licences up to date. You will manage accounts connected to tolls and other transport schemes, monitor driver fuel consumption and performance, and ensure compliance with driver CPC status.

You will oversee vehicle inspections, MOTs, servicing, and produce a monthly breakdown report. Additionally, you will ensure vehicles allocated to European work have the correct documentation, manage consumables, and maintain the cleanliness of vehicles and the site.

Who we are looking for :

  • Proven experience in Transport Management
  • Must hold an International CPC qualification 
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities
  • Proficiency in transport and business management IT systems
  • A thorough understanding of health & safety regulations.
  • Understanding of fleet management
