I am looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work in the Peterborough area. The perfect applicant will have knowledge and experience working on projects within wastewater or water treatment.

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Contract: Freelance

Rate: £450 per day

Duties will include:

  • Produce the Scoping and Outline design for Water Projects- This project is currently moving into the outline stage
  • Contribute to the technical management of projects and supporting the wider engineering team
  • Undertake site visits, coordinating the site team and the design teams and ensuring the operation is running smoothly
  • Reviewing final designs and managing change control for mechanical scopes of works, inclusive of mechanical isolation plant, hydraulic power unit systems, pumping and ventilation and odour control plant
  • Procurement and supply chain management with respect to mechanical scope on the project
  • Ensuring compliance of mechanical works with the applicable specifications and standards, and the application of safety and quality systems

Skills Required:

  • Having a strong background of working within the water industry
  • CITB (SMSTS), SSSTS, and/or CSCS qualified for managing safely
  • First Aid 3 day course
  • Valid Full UK Driving LIcence
  • Safe delivery of water projects to time, cost, and quality
  • Have undertaken site meetings and surveys
  • Be confident working in a team and adapting to more responsibility

Skills Desirable:

  • Ambitious and dynamic personality
  • MEICA/Civil works multi-disciplined interfacing
  • Travel to the office 3 days a week
  • Experience of working on Water Industry construction projects, preferably with experience of large and complex deliveries
  • Someone with a commitment to Right first time
