Mechanical Engineer

We are working with a company who specialise in creating spectacular bespoke showcase products for a range of different clients. They showcase mechanical parts, demonstrating the precision and craftsmanship behind hydraulic valves, generators, engines, and plane turbines.

They are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join the team and play a significant part in developing the engineering capability of the operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carefully strip down mechanical parts, ensuring no damage and preserving each component's integrity
  • Document each part's disassembly process, creating detailed catalogues to ensure accurate reassembly
  • Work closely with the polishing and painting department to prepare parts for display
  • Collaborate with fabricators to design stands and crates for the exhibition, ensuring secure and attractive displays
  • After exhibitions, accurately reassemble mechanical parts to their original state for further use or display
  • Ensure all work meets the highest standards of quality and precision
  • Working with CAD files to review technical drawings to produce information and work plans

Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Experience: Proven experience in mechanical engineering, particularly with disassembly and reassembly of complex mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, generators, and wind turbines is a plus
  • Experience of working with CAD software
  • Experience in working with abrasives and disc abrading
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create detailed and accurate documentation
  • Proficient in using mechanical tools and equipment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Forklift driver or First Aider would be useful but not essential

Hours of Work, Pay, and Benefits

  • Up to £41,000
  • 40-hour week with opportunity for overtime
  • Monday to Friday
  • 07:30am to 04:30pm
  • Expenses paid if working on-site
