Logical Personnel Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading maintenance contractor who operate within the power and utilites sector.
We require a Health & Safety Officer based in Peterborough.
The Company
Our client, a respected contractor, provide operations and maintenance servicing to several sites in the UK. This role sits within a client portfolio containing 7 sites, all open cycle gas turbine power stations, across England.
The Role
Will require the individual to assist the EHS Manager in developing, implementing, and enforcing the health and safety company policies and procedures on all site owned and operated by the client. The role will be based at one of the following UK facilities (Peterborough, Derby or Birmingham) with substantial travel across all England sites.
Essentially you will need:
- NEBOSH Diploma
- 5 years’ experience working with the power or utilities sector
- Full clean, UK driving licence
- Right to Work in the UK
- Comfortable travelling between sites
Responsibilities
- Adopt and amend the current policies and procedures to implement the clients’ requirements for compliance with UK Health & Safety Legislation.
- Assist in the development and upkeep of policies and procedures to meet other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor compliance with current policies, and procedures and provide reports of non-complianceand corrective actions.
- Undertake regular site visits to undertake audits and inspections of the facilities.
- Identify and develop material and provide training to required employees.
- Support site staff in the development and creation of risk assessment and safe systems of work.
- Undertake investigations into any incidents or significant near misses. Reviewing and analysing accident performance and trends, proposing proactive measures and methods to set and achieve improvement targets
- Aid in the onboarding process of new employees, based on the training requirement.
- Provide guidance and support to the business in all health and safety related matters.
- Liaise, if required, with any competent authority to address any areas of concern
- Provide and upkeep of any internal or external reporting requirements.
- Develop and update as required action plans to put in place any identified additional controls.
- Deputise for the EHS Manager in times of absence or business requirements.
- Provide assistance and support to the business regarding health matters.
- Provide expert input for health risk assessments and method statements.
- Foster a network across sites and the larger business to facilitate effective communication of health related HSE matters, promoting a positive culture.
- Conduct risk management through thorough risk assessments and the identification and implementation of control measures.
