Job Title: Commodity Buyer

Location: Peterborough

Shift: Monday - Friday (8am -4.30pm Office based)

Salary: up to £45,000 per annum

The Role

• Develop and maintain commodity strategics for a specific range of commodities, ensuring that our client is kept up to date on marketplace commercial and technical developments as well as potential suppliers.
• Evaluating cost data and analysis forms and identifying any cost saving opportunities.
• Dealing with contractual negotiations with current and potential suppliers
• Understanding tools and techniques to close cost gaps and looking at value for money whilst maintaining existing supplier relationships
• Managing supplier performance
• Providing procurement and commercial input into cross-functional teams that effectively contributes to the organisation's goals
• Working closely with the quality department
• Constantly striving for process improvement opportunities and focussing on 'best practice' initiatives
• Identifying supplier risk and develop risk mitigation strategies
• Lead and promote good supplier relationships
• Carry out any other duties required within the purpose of the job

The Candidate

• The successful candidate for this role would ideally be CIPS qualified with a minimum of 4 years' experience of working as a buyer within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience of negotiating with suppliers
• Intermediate level for MS Excel with the ability to analyse data
• Experience of using ERP/MRP systems
• Excellent communication skills with results driven attitude
• Ability to work under pressure
