An opportunity has arisen in the Procurement team of a highly successful and well established business which will require you to manage the procurement of Raw Materials and services for a number of exciting construction projects planned throughout the local area. A strong communicator and influencer is required as is the ability to ensure continuity of supply & understanding of the raw material marketplace.
Typical Responsibilities;
- Identify and source suppliers for raw materials, components, and equipment required for manufacturing.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure best deals.
- Place orders and manage the purchasing process, ensuring the timely arrival of materials to meet production needs.
- Track material usage, order quantities, and lead times to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Maintain accurate records within the ERP system.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality products and services.
- Help to resolve any issues related to delayed deliveries, damaged goods, or quality concerns with suppliers.
- Continuously evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Review purchase orders to ensure they are in line with budget constraints.
- Work with the finance department to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
This is an office based role with on site parking. Hours of work are 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Increasing holiday allowance with service. starting at 23 plus 8 bank holidays. pension and death in service.
To succeed in this position and in order to hit the ground running, you will need to have exposure to working in the construction or civil engineering sector. If you do not have experience as a Buyer but have worked for a builders merchant with an understanding of materials, we would also love to hear from you.
