Location: Peterborough

Salary: £23,088 per annum

Full time 37 hrs

Monday - Thursday 0730-1530, Friday 0800-1530

Our client is looking to recruit for a Community Café Assistant to work within their Westraven Community Café in Westwood. Their café is open to all visitors in the local community, providing affordable, quality, healthy food and provides a community pantry with low-cost food.

In this role you will:

  • Provide support to the Café Manager and Assistant chef in the day-to-day running of the Community Café.

  • Ensure safe and hygienic food preparation, cleaning and clearing of both the back and front of house areas of the café in line with standard processes and protocols.

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service at all times when dealing with both internal and external customers.

  • Work alongside Café Volunteers and members of the community including children, the elderly and vulnerable people.

  • Support all events and activities delivered by the Community Café and/or Garden where required as directed by the Community Projects Manager.

  • Help to build and maintain strong links with the community, ensuring opportunities are communicated to the Chef Manager or Community Project Manager.

  • Ensure that environmental awareness plays a key part in the day-to-day activities to ensure that the café continues to be sustainable.

They are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working within a food preparation environment with a strong understanding of good Food Hygiene practice.

  • An understanding of excellent customer care.

  • Experience of working in a customer facing role.

  • The ability to work under pressure

  • The skills to build strong positive relationships with all involved with the Community Café

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
